We’ve been painstakingly taught to avoid truly journeying after the question: Who Am I? Why Did I Come? What is my gift to give?

We’ve been told that even if we do journey after this question, it will be answered by a job title, a bunch of letters after our name, or by following a proscribed step-by-step approach to the messy, wild adventure of Life.

The truth is nothing of the sort. The truth is that your purpose is, much like mine above, something incredibly expansive and yet intensely specific to who you are. Once you know it, you will be able to choose from any number of possible ways of giving your gift, in every area of your life.

You cannot do this alone, and yet everything you need is already within you. The human body is an exquisite meeting place, where rivers of flesh, conscious imagination, the wild Earth and Mystery commune. This is a profound gift and responsibility. We sense that our creative prowess and life’s calling live at the convergence of such rivers, and we’re right, but it’s very difficult in our culture to find such places of power within us.

I know just how difficult the journey home to ourselves can be—how very hard it is to leave old ways of being…

When my son was born, and many around me were “settling down,” I was experiencing a spiritual crisis— utterly undone by my longing for some greater experience of human-ness, woman-ness, purpose— for his sake and my own. My presence in the world then felt thin, skeletal.

This experience peaked during the loss of my mother, when I entered a deeply initiatory time— one I came through whole and embodied because of the soul guides I had by my side. I had to sing flesh back onto the bones of my own magnificence, and in doing so, come into the power of my presence and how that might be of highest service to the world.

Here, we reclaim the dark-feminine power of your presence— where you resolve to remember & be more wholly yourself, and trust that presence to guide you.
