5 Questions to Stoke Your Beltane Fires
WELCOME BELTANE!
This morning I did something truly wild~ I rolled naked in the dawn dew! Mmmm, I can’t recommend it enough! I emerged from this quick & ancient moment fully revived and joy-filled and ran giggling back into the house~ The Rites of Spring are alive and well… but they need to be spoken. In a time of such dying and collapse, every flower and dew drop offers a balancing.
Today we celebrate Beltane/May Day in my Celtic ancestral tradition~ Beloved Festival of Love, Fertility, Earthly Sensuality, Regeneration & the undeniable and most welcome return of warmer days that will birth our sustenance.
It’s a day for light-hearted Frivolity and JOYFUL vow-making. The veil is thin.
All our Earth ancestors pan-culturally have parallel Springtime traditions that recognize our inherent marriage to the Land. Partnership with the Land was revered as crucial to secure the wellbeing of our children and their children, as well as all plant and animal life which sustain us. And so, Beltane is the day of the Sacred Marriage~a healing day as relevant as ever.
...After returning from my romp with the morning dew, I journeyed to wed a beloved guide & guardian in the Dreamtime. This has been a long time coming~ In marrying him, I married myself. I married a deepening of my path; I married an honesty I owe the world, a vow to share my gifts more generously. And I married a devotion to Mystery, to what cannot be known.
Later today, my husband and I will renew our wedding vows with our son as our witness, it being our 10 year anniversary this summer. We’ve seen much Mystery, challenge and Joy so far together.
